“A big thankyou to everyone who came along to Zumba at St Albans last night and donated their entry fee to Childline.
Special mention to Rob and Crissie from the heart Breakfast show and the heart Angels who also joined in the fun.
I hope that you all enjoyed it as much as I did”.

IMGQ What is Zumba
Zumba fuses Latin inspired dance, aerobic fitness moves and fantastic music for a dynamic workout that is FUN and EASY TO DO!

Zumba is a feel good activity which changes an effective fitness activity into a fun work out to lift your spirits whilst you shape up.   Zumba is an exhilarating, calorie burning, heart racing, muscle pumping, body energizing work out that will captivate you!

Q Where are your classes

A I lead Zumba classes in Ipswich and Zumba classes in Woodbridge and Zumba classes in Kesgrave.

Monday - Kesgrave High School Gym (Go left once through the gates and the sports centre is round the back)

Tuesday - The Abbey School Hall, Woodbridge (Car access from Cumberland st – pedestrian also from Church st)

Wednesday – St Albans High School Hall  (Nr Ipswich Hospital)

Q How much are they
A £4.50 per class, £3.50 under 16s and over 60s

Q Do I have to book or can I just come along
A All the halls I use are large – no need to book

Q I would like to ask a question
A
Call Julie on 07710 786231 or email Julie.foster@btinternet.com

Q Who can do it?
A Anyone of any age, providing you have a basic fitness level that would allow you to walk briskly for a minimum of ten minutes with ease.

Q I am very fit and would like to come with my friend who is unfit – will I get a work out?
A yes there are beginners and advanced options throughout – if you choose the advanced options throughout it will be the equivalent of a 6 mile run. There are a very broad range of fitness levels in this class and no one will feel out of place whatever their starting point.

Q Will it help me lose weight?
A Sustained aerobic exercise of this nature will burn fat effectively. Many slimmers who have previously gone to Rosemary Conley type classes enjoy Zumba.  The music and style of exercise is good for self confidence.

Q I am embarrassed because I am overweight?
A No Need to be – with a friendly mature teacher this is the class for you. 3

Q What should I wear?
A  Either normal work out gear (T shirt and leggings) or street dance wear

Q What shoes are suitable for Zumba?
IMGA Ideally a netball shoe or dance sneakers or a cushioned smooth soled walking shoe such as Ecco or Hotter. Standard Trainers are ok to start with because they give you the cushioning, however running styles are unsuitable as they are designed with maximum  grip and to propel you forward whereas dance moves require sideways  moves  and turns which may aggregate the knees if wearing running shoes. I recently forgot to take my trainers on holiday and bought some £5.00 trainers from Tesco as I wanted to do  a class.  They were well cushioned with a reasonably smooth sole and worked very well (surprisingly very comfortable too and 1/10 of the price of my normal shoes!)

Q What should I bring?
A A drink.

Q My young daughter would benefit from the exercise but she is only 10 – can she come?
A Yes, she will be made welcome and feel very comfortable (my own daughter aged 10 often joins in). However her health and safety and behaviour is the responsibility of the participating adult with her during the class.

Q I have had an injury/surgery can I still do it?
Please discuss with me. I am well qualified across a broad range of fitness disciplines and very experienced and will give options if appropriate.

Q Who is the teacher?
A Julie Foster, a local business woman and mother of two who first qualified as an aerobic fitness instructor in 1987 and went on to qualify in circuit training, gym instruction, weight training, stress management, nutrition for exercise and NLP. She taught regularly privately and for Suffolk Council until 2000 when she had her first child. After a gap she is back older (and on a diet) but more enthusiastic than ever and motivated by the 80's aerobics revival and the popularity of the Zumba Class Craze.

Q I want to do more Zumba
A I recommend my friend Gabys classes
